Rotary welcomed Wendy Souders from the Green Dot Moms today to Rotary. The Green Dot Moms are a closed group of Facebook mother’s supporting each other while their children are deployed abroad. They have been sending care packages to their children’s unit if only to bring smiles to their children’s faces and for them to know they are loved and people back home care and are thinking of them. The Souders Family also is instrumental in maintaining the Flourtown Erdenheim War Memorial on Bethlehem Pike, which the Rotary Club just completed a $20,000 renovation on last year. Today, Rotary Club President George Schaefer presented Mrs. Souders a check for $250 to help defray the shipping costs of the care packages. We love our troops and the Rotary Club will always support you! Pictured Left to Right, Pres. George Schaefer and Wendy Souders of the Green Dot Moms.

The Springfield Township Rotary Club completed their $20,000 + renovation and addition to the Flourtown Erdenheim War Memorial last fall. Continuing to maintain the site, Philip Dominic and others from Laurel Hill Gardens of Chestnut Hill, volunteered their time to weed, mulch and plant annuals at the memorial to spruce it up for the Labor Day weekend. A local resident and war veteran from Springfield Township stopped by during the clean up to express his thanks to the Rotary Club and to Laurel Hill Gardens for remembering all Veterans Service.
Springfield Rotary Club was pleased to welcome Barbara Kroberger, Director for the Nyaka School, who shared with the Club her recent travels to Uganda to an AIDS Orphanage. The Springfield Rotary Club donated enough funds to build a home, latrine, and kitchen hut for a grandmother. In Africa, an entire generation has been wiped out due to AIDS, leaving grandmothers to care for a generation of children. Ms. Kroberger and others were able to raise $30,000 to build 10 new homes for the grandmother. The Nyaka School also supports primary schools and medical clinics for the community’s they service. Sorry Everyone, the weather on Thrusday, required us to cancel the carnival for Thursday Night 6/27 – Any tickets purchased are good Friday and Saturday Night. We have rescheduled One Price Wristband night to tomorrow $20 to ride all night on a Friday. That’s a great deal. Please pass this post on to all if your friends. Also don’t forget the fireworks on Saturday night, we’ll be playing it by ear on the weather, but please keep an eye on the sky! If there is lightning in the area, obviously we cannot hold a carnival or fireworks, but we’re hoping for clear skies. Plenty of free parking at the high school and middle school. See you there and THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING ROTARY!
Advertise With Us! We have Sponsorships available for businesses to help support the carnival. This year we have added a new twist!
