May 29, 2014 by Tim Ernst Leave a Comment

Springfield Township Rotary Club honored officers and members of their two Interact Clubs. Springfield is unique in having more than one Interact Club, one each from Philmont Christian Academy and Springfield Township HS. Interact stands for International Service. There are more than 200,000 youth involved in Interact in more that 10,000 Clubs and 109 Countries. These students have accomplished many local humanitarian accomplishments this year as well.  After an induction of the new leadership of each Club, the Interact Advisors revealed the recipients of the Service Above Self Awards to the deserving Interactors that stood out this year.

Zwicker_2014Springfield Township Rotary Club is very proud to announce that one of their own has received International Recognition. Rotarian Joy Zwicker, who has been with the Springfield Rotary Club since 1996, has always been an important member of the Club. She has served as President, Treasurer, and as an Assistant District Governor.  On Tuesday, March 25th, the Rotary welcomed current District Governor Frank Romano, Assistant District Governor Bruce Dearnley, and Past District Governor Tony Jannetta. Joy Zwicker was surprised with being awarded Rotary International’s Avenues of Service Citation for Individual Rotarians. The award recognizes that the strength of the Rotary ideal is founded on the service carried out by club members worldwide, and this citation provides a means for Rotary Clubs to personally recognize a member for outstanding efforts in the five Avenues of Service. The Avenues include; Club Service, Vocational Service, Community Service, International Service, and New Generations Service. Zwicker was also awarded her third Paul Harris Fellow. The Paul Harris Fellow is awarded to honor Rotarians for generous contributions to The Rotary Foundation which are essential to securing and growing Rotary programs throughout the world. Clubs can also recognize Rotarians to express their gratitude for members individual commitment.
