Rotarian and President of the Fire Company, Tim Ernst  joins Author and Life Active Member of Flourtown Fire Company Charlie Samtmann, along with Rotary President Jack Norrie after their History of FFCo presentation. Charlie and Tim hold a copy of When the Siren Sounds … The History of Flourtown Fire Company – a 176 page, hardbound book that covers the 100th Anniversary of the Fire Company.

The author, Charlie Samtmann and designer (and fellow Rotarian) Tim Ernst of When the Siren Sounds … The History of Flourtown Fire Company presented a brief recap of the book and photos that took years to compile and write. Charlie shared how the fire company’s humble beginnings began in 1910 with a few hand-drawn hose carts and a small garage building. As the company grew so did the number of members and the equipment they used. A 1936 Hahn fire truck that was purchased and eventually sold found it’s way back to Flourtown and was fully restored by the members of the fire company. A compelling history from 1910 to 2010. This story and many others including major fires and incidents that the company took part in are included in the book, which is available for a donation of $20.00 on flourtownfire.org
